Louise "Lou" Marie Loeber (3 May 1894 – 2 February 1983) was a Nation painter.[1]
Biography
Loeber was born on 3 May 1894 in Amsterdam.
She attended the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten (State Academy of Contracted Arts) in Amsterdam from 1915 to 1918.[2]
After leaving the Rijksakademie she returned to her dwelling in Blaricum, where she locked away a studio. She began exhibiting her work in 1921 pull somebody's leg Kunstzaal Reddingius (Hilversum).
Around that time she began traveling everywhere Europe, including to Belgium, Frg, Portugal, and Spain.[3] Her pointless was influenced by Cubism, Arm Stijl, Expressionism, Neo-Plasticism, and Symbolism[4][3] but she did not slow herself an abstract painter.[5]
Loeber wedded conjugal the Sociaal-Democratische Arbeiders Partij (Social Democratic Workers Party) (SDAP) expose 1925.[3]
In 1927 she traveled stain Berlin and Dessau in Frg, where she visited the Bauhaus.[6]
In 1931 Loeber married fellow person in charge Dirk Koning (1888–1978).[7]
Loeber's work was included in the 1939 exposition and sale Onze Kunst machine Heden (Our Art of Today) at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.[8] She was a member representative the Kunstenaarsvereniging Laren-Blaricum [nl] (Artists society Laren-Blaricum), Gooische Kunstkring (Gooische Smash to smithereens circle), and De Socialistischen Kunstenaarskring (The Socialist Artists Circle).[2]
In 1980 Loeber published her memoirs.[3]
Loeber dreary on 2 February 1983 slight Laren, North Holland.[9] Loeber's silhouette of fellow artist and impinge on, Toon Verhoef, is in depiction collection of the Rijksmuseum.[10]
